I Am... Spicy Seafood Tagliatelle Recipe
There's this hilarious scene in Love Actually (my favorite Christmas movie of all time!) where one of the characters goes to America and impresses women with his British accent. They're in a bar, asking him to say different words and cooing after each one sounds different. They ask him to say bottle, then giggle and say BOHT-el. Then, they ask him how he says "table" and it comes out sounding exactly the same. "Same," the girls sigh, "it's the same." It's a cute scene, not only because I like accents, but because Mike and I have been going around saying "same" for the last little while.

If you ask me what my go-to comfort food is, I'll inevitably answer: noodles. There's just something about a big bowl of tangled up noodles, dressed up in sauce, that gets me every time. If I'm looking for something quick, easy, and satisfying when I'm hungry, these noodles are it!

We've made it more than halfway across Canada! We're totally behind on our travel posts, but we've been having a blast. You know what they say about time and fun? It's true – the days are just flying by and soon we'll be at the edge of the Atlantic. Lately we've been eating up a storm in Toronto and I've gotta say, alternating between camping and staying in hotels is my jam. I love the contrast of going from national parks with sketchy cell phone service to multiple lane highways and big city buzz. I thought it would be rough going from sleeping under the stars in a tent to sleeping in cozy beds in glossy glass rooms, but it makes me appreciate both so much more.

We visit the Canadian Alberta Badlands, camp in Dinosaur Provincial Park, and get eaten alive by mosquitoes! Driving into the Badlands, I asked Mike: Why do the Badlands have to be called the Badlands? What if they've had a change of heart and want to be the Goodlands? Or, what if they're only bad sometimes? Can't they just be the Lands? Mike answered me in typical fashion: They're just bad. They've been the Badlands forever, they can't change.

We've been on the road for a while now and while we have been eating food that we make at camp, I miss being in the kitchen. I made this little potato salad situation right before we left and I'm wishing I could make it right now, but it might be just a touch ambitious for camp cooking.

There's a very popular ice cream shop here in town that I felt never really lived up to the hype. There would be lines out the door, but the one time I tried something, it was icy and bland. After that I swore, never again. But then, they opened up a second location and Mike and I would walk by almost everyday. One sunny day, when there was magically no line, we popped in to take a look at the flavors. Carrot cake immediately called out to me. I mean, I love carrot cake. I had a taste, was sold, and was the happy new owner of a very addictive waffle cone full of creamy ice cream with fluffy chunks of carrot cake and cream cheese icing. It was so good that I was sad when it was over.

It's something every North American should do once. No, I'm not talking about eating poutine – although everyone should do that too – I'm talking about driving from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea. Mike and I have been chatting about it, casually, for years now. It's always been one of my dreams to see the Maritimes and Mike has been going on and on about seeing puffins on the East Coast forever. So we decided to just go for it: an epic cross-the continent-country camping road trip! Well, camping and city, because we want to see it all, the vast wilderness and all the things that the cities have to offer.

Do you guys every plan things out perfectly only to have a wrench thrown in the plans? What the heck does that saying even mean? Anyway, Mike and I left on Monday for a very long, very exciting trip across Canada! It's Canada's 150th birthday this year and we've always wanted to drive from sea to shining sea, so we figured that this year was the year to do it. Unlike most trips, we're kind of winging this one, so it comes as no surprise that halfway to our first destination, we realized that we forgot one very important thing.

The other day I was wearing my I ❤️ BUFFETS sweatshirt (a perfect gift from Mike because, why yes, I do heart buffets) when a bunch of tween girls passed us by. One of them said, "that's a high quality shirt!" and other one said, "I like your hair too, it's really snazzy." I said thanks in a kind of bewildered tone and to be honest, I couldn't tell if they were being mini mean girls or were just being tweens.
