I Am... Fully Loaded Baked Potato Salad Recipe
Potato salad. Definitely the salad I make a beeline to at all picnics, barbecues and potlucks. Often I'm disappointed so, to negate that, I'm usually the one bringing potato salad to the party. This is a super quick, super easy fully loaded baked potato salad. I baked the potatoes to get that earthy flavour, but you can go ahead and boil them if that's easier. Potatoes, bacon, cheddar and green onions. I could eat this all. the. time, especially alongside some barbecued jalapeño honey garlic chicken. Happy weekend friends!

Do you guys ever miss high school? Let me clarify – I don't mean the school part of it, or the cliques or classes, I just mean the after school snacks. Man, after school snacks were the bomb. Snacks were, by far, the best part of a weekday. Sometimes my snack situation would be something simple like a giant bag of cheetos (I miss my teenage metabolism and penchant for crunchy styrofoam-y cheese snacks), sometimes it'd be a pack of instant noodles, but by far, the best after school snack was Taiwanese meat sauce.

A couple of weeks ago we had houseguests. One of them wanted to head out for Sunday brunch, but I was feeling entirely too lazy to put on real clothes and head out so the only logical thing to do was to stay in and make waffles. Luckily, I had buttermilk, Greek yogurt and fresh cherries in the fridge. Homemade buttermilk waffles with bourbon cherry sauce and honeyed yogurt and no Sunday brunch line-up equals win-win, in my books.

Happy August guys! I feel like I say this every month, but I just can't believe how fast July has flown by. I'm looking forward to those long, lazy days of the end of summer and dare I say it, maybe even the start of fall? Actually, yes, I'll just go ahead and proclaim my love for fall now. Cozy sweaters, crunchy leaves, cold noses, I love it all! But before I get too ahead of myself, here's what I've been reading, drooling over and loving on the internet.

When I have a bunch of leftover meat I tend to make fried rice. I've made it with leftover fried chicken, porchetta and yes, even pulled pork. Pulled pork fried rice is definitely a bestovers kind of thing. You can clean out your fridge and make something that is almost even more delicious than its starting point.

If you read this blog regularly, you'll know that I have a slight obsession with grilled cheese sandwiches. I even threw myself a grilled cheese themed birthday party. It was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. I had a grilling station, different kinds of bread, a bunch of add-ins and, of course, a chip bar. Turns out that a lot of my friends hadn't made grilled cheese before!

It's Sunday – time for coffee, long, lingering brunches and catching up on the internets!

Em and Gina are hosting a potluck! There are a bunch of lovely people joining in and tons of delicious food being made. Check it out here and here! Are you guys a fan of potlucks? I love having a bunch of people coming together and bringing out their favourite dish. There'll inevitably be too many desserts (which is always a good thing) and usually, at least in the case of the potlucks that I've been to, the oven will be overstuffed with people trying to warm their dishes at the last minute. The solution? Bring something that doesn't need to be warmed up in the oven. Of course, you could go with a lovely cold pasta salad or a fancy deviled egg, but if you're anything like me, you'll bring over all the fixings for banh mi fries.

Do you guys like to keep your various groups of friends separate or do you let them mingle? Generally, I like to lump all of my friends together at dinners and parties – I figure all my friends like me, so they already have one thing in common. But, just this past weekend, two very dear friends of mine met for the first time. What made it even more interesting is that we invited them both to stay the weekend. Luckily they got along quite well and there were no fisticuffs.

The other day I woke up from a recurring nightmare that I have that's somewhat based on reality. In my dream, it's minutes before a big party with all of my friends and family. Chicken wings are on the menu – there's a reason I keep seeing chicken wings labelled as party wings after all. I put the wings in the oven at 3:00 and set the timer. All of a sudden there's smoke pouring out the the oven and the timer's flashing 13:00. I'm worried about smoke inhalation, the house burning down and whether or not the chicken wings will be salvageable.

Do you think the week starts or ends on Sunday? I've always considered Sunday the beginning of the week, but a lot of people (including Mike) argue that it's the end of the week. I guess there's something to both sides of the argument. Regardless, it's Sunday so I thought I'd do a little recap of what I've been up to.
